What really are we expected of us in campus? What should we do or in other words whats are our responsibilities as students?. This is an open question and i will not worried from the responses i will get from University students.

We are all entitled to a particular and all similar responsibility. and that’s learning and acquiring those papers. I mean the certificates. and not only learning, but also getting the concepts and applying them in a real life situation.

Acquiring education may though be difficult, characterized by difficulties of life like lack of school fees. This is actually a big factor affecting most  students in Universities especially the parallel applicants. Not most of us are able to complete or even pay their school fees a semester after the other. Some students are forced to defer to another semester to create space for them to look for fees on the following semester.

Due to this, some students are forced to drop out of their University. This affects them much in their future when they want to apply for job. They are actually faced with difficulties because they’re unable to produce the required documents and they end up blaming lack of school fees as the cause of that.

I will not take school fees as the cause of failure in life. How many people have you heard have persevered in education with all sorts of hustle and have made it? Education just need perseverance and time not considered as a major factor for you to live a better life in some few days to come. no need to hurry if your situation dictates you not to be in hurry to complete your University education.

 

 

Problem to solve a problem?

Is it the education system which is hard or whats happening? That’s the question which is disturbing me in my mind right now. but why…?.

Secondary school students are sticking and burning their school properties carelessly. Not even baring in mind the burden they put upon their parents. They don’t even understand the time they waste arguing out their problems through this primitive way. Is this the only way they can solve a problem really?.

The worst happened just last month when students in Tala high school burnt their dormitory. Many students got burn injuries and even others got some injuries as they were trying to escape the inferno. One of the student died in the fire breakout. Yes, i have experienced school strike in my former high school but thank God it didn’t go to this extent. Minor casualties used to happen but of course it was given very little attention by the media, our parents and our “enemy” the administration.

I’m Thinking… why do students have to take this lane in raising an alarm on a problem?. Who’s the person to blame? Who should bare responsibility to this whenever it happens.

I think the students do wrong but at the same time maybe they’re communicating sometime in their most effective way. maybe they do this as a way to draw full attention from the relevant authorities for an action to be taken. They just have to behave silly for them to be recognized.

I will blame the administration of respective schools of not listening to the students grievances. Otherwise, if maybe they listened to them, less of this would be happening. I will recommend to the administration schools to be listening  to the students’ problems and handling them professionally and careful in order to curb future massacres like these we have experienced before.

The government too should be aware of whats happening in schools. Set rules on management of schools which will improve or create effective communicate between the school administration and the students. Together we join hands, together we happily succeed. problem doesn’t solve a problem rather it adds to a bigger one.

Are you educated or learned?

Being educated  and learned are tottaly different aspects but closely related. What do i mean?  Education is just the routinely the obvious thing  which everyone can do. It involves just going to school, attending lecturers doing the assignment and so forth. I just mean being in school full time for a “reason”.

Very different. Being learned  simply means acquiring the education and putting it in practice. I mean its acquired concept in life. in other words, the application of education.

Its better to be learned than being educated. A learned person is able to use his/her mind in various instances and is able to manage different situations. An educated person may face some difficulties to manoevour similar situation.

Being learned is an important aspect but its very much important  by being educated because it counts much on the creativity of the application o f the “learned” concept.

Many will  agree with me that in education how old are you doesn’t count. Its not easy  for one  to deal with the redicule he or she will face from the fellow classmat s especially when they are younger than you.

Many of you have fallen a victim of this or maybe someone you know. As for me, i knew a friend called John.  He joined nursery school  when he was five years. when finishing his primary  school, he looked  very old. You would think he was in his last years in  high school.

I liked the fous and determination kamau had in education. I can’t forget. He used to pass by our home to pick me very early in the morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to come out of our home compound whenever i heard of his deep voice  calling me. My parents too where just too comfortable with it because they where assured of my safety in that very early early in the morning.  He was big  and energetic.

John was the top of their class and  everybody in the school knew that when they did their exams. Too old  but smart. May seem ironic but it’s real.  With all that redicule he used to make it.

Society is very key on education. Everyone in the society wants his or her child to reach a higher level of education either in secondary or in University. Every parent wants to be associate with a learned child. Thanks much to the society nowadays it understands education is for everyone. Either the boy child or the girl child.

The society perceives education as very essential, classic and even honorable thing. Not understanding the outcome or the difficulties associated by acquiring it. The difficult comes in when a child acquires it and don’t meet the expectations of her parents after the education.

The society will expect much from a learned child. Good job, the next big boss in the village and ride on big cars of course. The problem comes in when this turn to be opposite. The child don’t meet what they expect. Actually in a bad state than when he or she was a student. Getting what to eat is difficult, where to sleep is not even in the dairy. You just sleep anywhere you will find yourself late since you can’t even afford to pay for a single room.

The society should expect anything from their children. Education doesn’t pay bills nor does it provide with a place to live. Parents should understand that education is only made to drive their child to greater heights. They shouldn’t expect this to happen abruptly like a miracle, but they should give it time to grow and be witnessed by everyone.
